Once you’ve figured out how to keep your top talent onboard, you can look to grow your team with additional A players. With COVID and many companies having to make the difficult decision to lay employees or shut the doors, the talent pool has grown. But how do you tap into that pool to help your organization grow? Here are a few tips:

  1. Understand your need – taking the time to sit down and determine exactly the kind of talent that you need to for that position is the first step. If you are unsure of what kind of person you’re looking for, evaluating candidates effectively becomes impossible.
  2. Expand the geographic search – if your organization has been able to adapt to working from home, than it may be possible that you can search for remote employees. This allows you to expand your candidate options exponentially. Please see benefits of a remote pool of candidates.
  3. Utilize a professional search executive partner – Finding talent can be hard and for most companies, they post on a job board and hope that the people that apply will be great. However, when you post on a job board, you’ll get a lot of applications but those are active candidates that are looking for positions. What it doesn’t give you is access to passive candidates. Relationships that executive search firms have, give you access to those candidates that may not be applying for positions but open to opportunities.
  4. Seamless interview process – If a candidates first experience with a company is a chaotic interview process, they will perceive the organizations to be unprepared and careless. Ensuring that the entire process from first touch all the way through onboarding has a lasting impression on a potential candidate.

Once you find the talent to grow your team, you can continue to ensure that you keep them engaged and happy.
